MEET THE ARTIST
I started calligraphy only because it was beautiful.
In 2016, a high school student saw beautiful handwriting on Instagram and wanted to try it herself. Not long after, she bought a brush pen from a stationery shop — originally thinking she’d use it as a highlighter — and somehow, that became the beginning of everything. That student was Poupee, the artist behind Poppy.Loves.Calli.
I've been practicing ever since, taking my first calligraphy gigs from my inner circle in 2017, sharing my work online in 2018, and rediscovering pointed pen calligraphy in 2021.
Before Poppy.Loves.Calli, there was Kirara+. I chose the name when I was still exploring — calligraphy, lettering, illustration, photography, junk journaling, and anything else I found interesting. Eventually, I realised calligraphy was the one I kept coming back to. It gave me peace and freedom, and I wanted to take it more seriously. So in 2023, Kirara+ became Poppy.Loves.Calli.
My very first live event calligraphy, for POLA.
August 2024Today, I’m a calligraphy and personalization artist.
I create by hand for brands, weddings, events, gifts, and anyone looking for something a little more personal.
I care about precision and the small details. More than simply making something beautiful, I want the effort behind each piece to be felt — the time, patience, and care that went into making it.
These days, I go by both Poupee and Poppy — depending on who you ask. When I put the pen down, you’ll probably find me wandering through a museum or gallery, looking for vintage things, watching the Spider-Verse trilogy or Tangled, or listening to Laufey.
Calligraphy is what I make most. But it’s not everything I am.
With love and precision,
Poupee
